From Spectator to Participator: A life in motion

image_in_motionI am not a life coach see Joe Paul for that, but I believe that your life is self actualized and in order to realize your potential you have to have an undying optimism, a heap of self assuredness, enormous faith in God, and a tenacious work ethic to accomplish great things. I am not hear to judge the merits of your faith but in my estimation having faith is paramount to success. This post is all about motion particular the movement form Spectator to Participator.
A body at rest tends to remain at rest and a body in motion will remain in motion unless acted on by another force paraphrase from Newton’s Laws of Motion.
In the post We Are All In Sales Really we talk about how if you don’t have what you want you are not selling enough. I would like to add that not only are you note selling enough but that you are selling yourself short. Below are some tips that I have picked up and hopefully we can use them together to help us move from spectators to participators in every facet of our lives. Hey, I am still in motion so saying ‘you’ instead of us in the sentence before did not seem appropriate.

Me Myself and I… Generation M.E.

index-chalk-outline“In my opinion modesty has been assaulted with a deadly weapon and self promotion is the prime suspect.”

If self promotion has made heroes of some, then it has made victims of less brash and more softly spoken values such as modesty, thoughtfulness, compassion and forgiveness. Society has over time become more crude, rude, and pointed mainly because we request that it be delivered that way. We require "real", blunt, communication without the temper of compassion, which in turn has made most of us coarse and often unapologetic when we are the offending party.  We have become infatuated with the idea of entitlement and just deserts.

To Be or Not to Be Don Draper?

Logo from AMC's Mad Men
First let me start this post by stating that I am avid viewer of the show Mad Men on AMC. I think that its on of the most creative and interesting stories on television. It has everything that we like to see beautiful people behaving badly, confidence, sex, money and conceitedness.

This shows owes a lions share of its success to the most dapper character on TV now Don Draper. I mean this guy is as cool as the other side of the pillow that happens to be under the toenail of a polar bear. He is one cool, and self assured and overall just smooth cat, I am talking silk. I mean like whipped butter smooth or expensive cognac smooth. His beautiful wife Betty, the two kids, the black maid, the money, the powerful job and house in suburbia all help complete the picture of this all american guy living the all american dream. Not to mention his 'admirable' service in the U.S. military. Yep, couple that together with his clean shaven face and neatly slicked back hair and nicely fitted suits and you have a winner. But what happens when you dig a little deeper? How deep and dark is the soul of one Don Draper (for my real fans Dick Whitman). Kick around in the Don's closet and skeletons are sure to fall out.
